You can establish your identity and eligibility to take the online tutorial and assessment one of three ways.  Options 1 and 2 are automatic and will authorize you to proceed online immediately.  Option 3 sends a request to the HRPP program, and a reply with your user ID and password will be sent to you by e-mail:
  1. If you are a named investigator or contact for a research protocol that has been submitted to the UCSD Human Research Protections Program within the past five years, you can enter the protocol number assigned by HRPP, the Principal Investigator's last name and your last name. 

  2. (Please note that this verification will work only if your name was included on the original project submission.  Additionally, there may be cases where your name may not be in the project database if there are or were an unusually large number of participating investigators.  If so, use option #2 or #3):

  3. If you are an employee of the UCSD School of Medicine, you can enter your last name name and either your UC employee number or the Human Subjects office person ID number (the "P" number provided to you if you requested registration via option 3):

  4. (Note: New employees or those not previously entered in the IRB database as a P.I. or contace on an study may not be listed in the database.  If you enter a valid employee number and it is not accepted by the system, use option #3 to create a new registration record.)

  5. If neither of the above conditions apply, you can register with the UCSD Human Reserach Protections Program office online, and a User ID and password will be sent to you by e-mail.  Be sure you enter your e-mail address correctly:
